Colorfil Air Filters: What the Different Colors Mean

There’s a new product available these days called Colorfil HVAC filters that change colors. Why are their AC filters colored differently? They change colors to show when it’s time to change your air filter, starting out as a bright pink and eventually turning yellow. These filters can last anywhere from one month to six months.

There are several factors that determine how quickly a Colorfil air filter changes from pink to yellow, which we cover below. We also cover why their AC filters have different colors and what they mean.

The time of year

As with any air filter, the time of year can determine how long it lasts. This is because you use your HVAC system more during certain seasons. During the summer months, you’ll likely be blasting your air conditioner to stay cool on especially hot days. Simply put, filters that are used more frequently will give out faster.

Temperature changes and humidity levels can greatly affect the lifespan of your Colorfil air filters as well. In the winter months, for example, Colorfil air filters tend to last longer because of lower humidity and temperature levels. In fact, Colorfil air filters last around six months in the winter. In the summer, however, they usually only last around two months.

The airflow in your home or business

As mentioned above, your air filter will give out more quickly when used more. During the spring and fall months, you won’t need to use your HVAC system as much, thus reducing airflow. This means less work for your air filter. With Colorfil HVAC filters, you’ll find that they usually stay a vibrant pink longer during the fall and spring months.

Your home’s air quality

It’s an air filter’s job to keep dirt, dust and other pollutants from infecting your air supply. If your home has poor air quality, the air filter will have to work extra hard. This is especially true if you live in a home with pets that frequently shed. When you have good indoor air quality, your Colorfil filter may stay pink for several months.

A great way of prolonging the life of your air filter is by keeping your home clean. Be sure to vacuum the floors and dust on a routine basis. This will help keep some of those pollutants from entering your air supply.

Choosing the right air filter

Colorfil filters are an amazing product. They make it easy to tell when your filters need changing and seem to do a good job of maintaining good indoor air quality. That said, these products might not be for everyone. There are many different types of air filters available, and finding the right one may take some trial and error.

No matter what type of air filter you decide to purchase, it’s important to change them when necessary. Changing your air filters at the right time will help maintain good air quality in your home and prolong the life of your air conditioner.
